About Me
Hi, I’m Viktor. I’m married to my wife Julie, and we have three children: Alex, Jason, and Jasmine. We live in Sacramento, California, and attend House of Bread Christian Church. Our faith in God and the teachings of Jesus Christ are an important part of our lives.
My Background
After graduating from college, I began working for a residential heating and air company, installing air conditioning systems and ductwork. After three years, I moved into a CAD department where I designed sheet metal components using 3D software, including roof caps, vents, and wall systems. Later, I worked for a commercial HVAC company, designing large duct systems and equipment for commercial buildings.
Getting Into DIY
In 2010, my wife and I bought our first home. It needed a lot of work, both inside and out. Hiring contractors was expensive, so I decided to buy a few basic tools and start doing the work myself.
When our children started school, we needed a sturdy dining table for homework and daily use. Our existing furniture was inexpensive particleboard that quickly wore out. I decided to build my first solid wood dining table after finding inspiration online. That project not only improved our home but also led me to build and sell several more tables, helping me recover the cost of my tools.
From there, I began building most of our home furniture myself. My background in 3D modeling helped me create detailed plans and accurate cut lists, making each project easier and more efficient.
Why I Started TheDIYPlan
Alongside DIY building, I’ve always enjoyed photography and web design. I’ve built websites using WordPress for various organizations, including our church and my children’s school.
While planning projects, I realized I was already creating detailed drawings and cut lists—so I decided to share them with others. That’s how TheDIYPlan was born: a place to share practical, easy-to-follow DIY plans with anyone who wants to build their own furniture and projects.
